When people asked what I'd be doing after graduation, I didn't imagine I'd be holding up a wooden phallus in a rural West African village doing a condom demonstration. But when I received an e-mail about the Sankofa Center for African Dance and Culture, a program that does HIV/AIDS education in Ghana, I secured my spot as one of four volunteers to do just that.

Las Vegas, the illustrious Oz of our 21rst century world, shot into the spotlight this summer with the release of the surprise mega hit The Hangover, a film featuring the craziest kind of "what happens in Vegas" shenanigans. Like any good pop culture enthusiast, I decided to try out the glitz and gambling myself and signed up for a two night stint in sin city, hoping to get into all sorts of trouble.

I didn't get into much trouble (or okay, any at all), but I did discover Vegas' third vice (after gambling and sex): drinking.
